Hilton Leeds Lock
This design was inspired by its location and the proximity to the canal and industry around it. Working with Valor Hospitality Europe, we were tasked with a full refurbishment of the bar and the restaurant and the creation of the Sky Lounge upstairs as well as revamping main reception areas. Hilton’s mission was to increase the footfall into the building to drive revenue and capture some of the meeting trade. With a theme based on the nearby lockkeeper’s cottage, the Lock Kitchen and Bar was created.
Instagrammable and bespoke features were created throughout the restaurant and bar areas, including screens and light fittings forged from steel, light fittings sourced from ship manufacturers, graffiti-style murals of the lock keeper and other features which reference life on the nearby waterways. The terrace area included furniture made from reclaimed materials. It was important the Sky Lounge with its stunning views across Leeds and the downstairs Lock Bar would appeal to different audiences, The Sky Lounge was aimed at those looking for a night out with the Lock Bar appealing to those wanting something relaxed and informal.
The Lock’s new look and fresh menu with its storytelling from start to finish has completely transformed this space and footfall has shown dramatic growth.
With modern and flexible working, this new environment is regularly busy and popular with employees throughout the day with the café area being open from 8am until the office shuts. Our design concept was based on natural materials with real wood and neutral colours being used to reflect the history of sugar.
